Mental Health and Stress

With mental health awareness week was on our agendas, many foundations drew attention to the causes of mental illnesses.

Our mental health ultimately affects our emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. Any adverse effects of mental illness can harm our lives in many long-term conditions. It is crucial to identify any mental illness such as anxiety, depression, or any bipolar disorders, to prevent and keep a healthy balance for a happy life.

What are the symptoms of mental illness?

A mental illness depending on the source of the disorder can be detected with a simple observation of someone or self. The symptoms of mental illness are usually:

-    Feeling scared, angry, worried, upset, or confused

-    Having severe mood swings

-    Pulling away from usual activities

-    Feeling numb or like nothing matters

-    Decrease on socialisation

-    Eating or sleeping too much or too little

-    Having low energy than usual

-    Having trouble to get along with family and friends

Even though these symptoms can regulate depending on the persons, they usually appear in familiarity. If you or someone around you are exhibiting similar behaviours, it could be a symptom of mental illness.

What can cause mental illness?

Mental health can be threatened by different factors. These factors can mainly be categorised under biological and environmental causes. Biological factors are usually depending on the genes or if there is a family member who is suffering any mental issues. Environmental factors, on the other hand, can be explained as trauma or abuse in the person’s history.

Mental Health Foundation also highlights stress as a very strong cause for mental illness. With the never-ending busyness of modern life, stress is affecting our health significantly.

How does stress affect our mental health?

Stress is one of the major health problems most of us facing today. It is responsible for many of our illnesses. And mental health problems are the primary results of stress.

We are all facing different situations in our daily lives. Stress is all about how we are coping with the negative circumstances. Everyone has a different level of capability in terms of dealing with the everyday problems. Hence, someone’s usual daily life can be impossible to cope with for someone else. It is essential to be aware of yourself and not exceeding your stress management.

How to prevent stress?

An environment entirely devoid of stress wouldn’t be beneficial for the self since some stress helps the personal development. But the level of stress we are facing in our daily routines shouldn’t be more than a self-motivation way of reaching our goals. And even then, we should try to prevent stress as much as we can to a healthier balance in our lives.

We can follow some simple routes to prevent the harmful effects of stress on our mental health.

Sleeping better

A well-rested mind and body are one of the most important factors on one’s health. With a quality sleep, we are more able to cope with the daily challenges of life.

Stress might cause anxiety, sleep deprivation and insomnia.

We recommend 1001 Remedies Good Night Balm to help you with a healthier sleep which leads you to better stress management and eventually better mental health.

1001 Good Night balm is a natural remedy that will immediately help you relax and relieve stress. With the Melissa, Lavender, Camomile, and other essential oils, 1001 Good Night Balm helps to relax your heart and nervous system, reduces stress and helps you with a deeper sleep leading to mental and physical rest.

Quiet your mind

A quiet mind is a healthy mind. While being exposed to so many thoughts, acts, and situations during the day, our minds can sometimes overwork. This usually leads to higher stress and unhealthy conditions.

Resting our minds with meditation, resting moments, or with mindful holiday breaks, will reduce stress from our lives and increase our mental health.

You don’t always have to spend money on long holidays for a little mind rest. With short mindful holidays, you can quiet your mind and feel better.

Your perception is everything

Dr Joe Dispenza in his bestselling book “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself” mentions the importance of perception. Our brains are controlling all our lives, but we are controlling our brains. Evolving our brains gets us into the idea of creating our lives with our thoughts. The environment, body, and time we are living in, all depends on the perception we have on the factors. Overcoming these aspects of our lives with changing the negative perception of them, will eventually determine what we create.

Our brains don’t distinguish the outer living and what is inside our minds. Hence, what we think eventually becomes what we are living.

Realising the positive sides of our lives, or changing the perception of unhealthy thoughts, help us create our lives in a much better peace. Just as we mentioned before, stress is a dependent response of the brain to how to handle issues. When we don’t see any negative matters in our lives, or we accept them as easy to overcome, our minds create a healthier balance for our wellbeing.

With changing the perception of our personalities and outer life, we can reduce the stress from our lives and gain better mental health.
