Protect yourself against virus while travelling

Protect yourself against virus while travelling

You may have already started feeling the symptoms of the annoying cold and flu caused when the temperature drops. The air is almost painfully cold and even though you tried different methods, you are not escaping the flu (or “influenza” virus which is not as glamorous as it sounds), the most common one that spreads during winter season.

Plus, if you are not hibernating, you may have heard that the coronavirus victims are rising and rising because of travel. Although most of the time travel is a fun experience, the high rates of people travelling from the affected zone to the rest of the world allow contagious virus to spread like wildfire. This is why if you are going to travel soon, it is recommended you follow some basic steps to protect yourself from this and other viruses:

But stop for a second, what exactly is a virus?

They are a microscopic organism that can come from many sources such as plants, outdoor environment, ventilation systems… and they exist in almost every environment on earth. And they need another host organism to live. Sometimes they can be a trigger for life and sometimes they don’t cause any symptoms at all.

And finally, they usually spread through skin, sexual contact, sneezes, cough, contaminated food, water and even insects that carry them around and pass it through one person to another. That’s why to this day Mosquitos are considered the deadliest animals to humans.

But if what concerns you is the coronavirus, this type of virus can lead to pneumonia, common cold and severe respiratory problems. This virus originated in Wuhan, manifests itself with fever, sore throat, headaches and a difficulty to breath.

But which are the key rules to keep any virus away?

The basic easy prevention steps

Maybe no one at home has symptoms of any cold or flu. But considering all the germs that are out there, let’s say that there is always something “going around”. But that doesn’t mean you need to panic and start rubbing all the surfaces with a cleaning product.

Because to start, some of the viruses are beneficial for our system to protect ourselves from dangerous bacterias. Anyway, even if it’s allergy season or minus 0 temperatures time, here are the main steps to follow:

  1. Wash your hands for 20 seconds

To start, stop touching your nose, eyes and mouth if you haven’t washed your hands! And about washing hands, experts recommend travelers to do it for 20 seconds and rubbing them thoroughly. Otherwise you won’t be killing the germs at all. Avoid touching the eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands. Make sure kids do as well!

      2. Use natural essential oils to cleanse the air you breathe

There are plenty of natural essential oils that will remove pollution, germs and viruses wherever you are. The natural antiviral and antibacterial properties of essential oils are found in ravintsara, which also stimulates the immune system. You may also want to pay attention to eucalyptus (due to its anti inflammatory properties) and peppermint oil, which has been used for ages for common cold and flu. These oils are so powerful that in previous historical massive epidemics, like the Spanish flu, perfumers who often worked with these essential oils didn’t get infected.

A natural antiviral room spray that you can carry around in your bag can be the key to wipe out the germs you breathe. The natural essential oils in our travel size Pur Air room spray not only will eliminate germs but will also reinforce your immunity thanks to the properties of eucalyptus, ravintsara and cinnamon, all natural antibiotic. The high concentration of essential oils, compared to other similar sprays in the market, makes it a very powerful solution to protect from viruses.

A very simple trick is to apply a few drops of your room spray on the mask you are wearing while in the airport so that you make sure that you inhale the essential oils.

Or discreetly spray a few doses around yourself, trust one, we’ve done it ourselves! No one minds, especially because it gets rid of plane food smell. Win. Win.

        3. Watch out for undercooked animal products

Exclusively if you are in an officially affected area, it is better not to eat raw or undercooked products coming from animals.

So for all our jet setters and wanderlusters, stay safe with some of the above mentioned remedies.
